The Film Heritage Foundation said on Monday that reservations for the re-release of Shyam Benegal's Manthan in Indian theaters are now being accepted, following the film's resounding welcome at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival. On May 17, a restored version of the 1976 film, which was made possible by 5 lakh Gujarati farmers who gave ₹2 apiece to sponsor the film 48 years ago, was shown at the Cannes Classics gala. On June 1 and 2, 38 Indian cities, including Mumbai, New Delhi, Anand, Rajkot, Chennai, Kochi, Hyderabad, Jaipur, and Chandigarh, will host the theatrical re-release of the restored Manthan.
